Halloween Dinner Ideas: Slow Cooker Chili
Halloween has traditionally been chili night in my family. Typically there are a few last minute mishaps trying to get costumes to fit, so a chili simmering in the slow cooker is the only part of my day that’s not scary. I know my kids are going to consume way too much sugar, so I prepare this slow cooker chili ahead of time and fill them up before they head out on their door-to-door adventures.

Slow Cooker Honey Glazed Ham
Cooking a delicious, tender and moist honey glazed ham doesn’t need to happen in your oven. You can get great results by “cooking” the spiral ham in the slow cooker. In addition to being large enough to serve a crowd, hams require little prep work, since they are sold fully cooked and, in this case, sliced. On Thanksgiving, I cook this while the turkey is in the oven, which gives another option to those that aren’t a fan of turkey. Besides, I like having leftover ham for sandwiches.
When choosing a ham, make sure it is one that can fit in your slow cooker (about 6 -8 lbs. for a 6 quart slow cooker). The ham is pre-cooked, so you are slowly reheating the ham and then glazing it (which is the best part).
How To Make Perfect Homemade French Fries
Let’s face it, you’re not going to be able to make french fries that look and taste exactly the same as the fast food chains. If you want to recreate a perfect skinny yellow fry at home, your best bet is to buy a bag of frozen pre-cut fries and dump them into the fryer or bake them on a pan in a toaster oven. But for the real do-it-yourselfer, this homemade french fry method has definite advantages.
