Summer is the perfect time for a wedding! From the warm weather and longer days to the romantic vibes that are in the air, the warmer weather makes me think of the beach and coastal relaxing. Living in Florida, I’ve always loved weddings and the warmer weather, and it reminds me of when my husband and I got married near the St. John’s River in Jacksonville and giving our guests coastal-themed favor gifts. What are you going to give your bridal wedding party? You know, the bridesmaids, mother of the groom, and of course your maid of honor? Create beach themed gift baskets with personalized T-shirts and tank tops with their special role in the wedding on them. It will give them clothes to lounge in when getting ready for the big day!
With the Hamilton Beach Durathon® Digital Iron and iron-on patches you can create a beach wedding basket they will love! Take a look at how easy it is to thank the women who mean the most to you on your special day.
Before you go shopping determine what type of style each of the women in your bridal party will feel comfortable wearing. Younger bridesmaids may feel comfortable in customized tank tops, while the mother of the bride and groom may prefer T-shirts. Once you have the clothing picked out, gather these other supplies.
Supplies Needed:
- T-shirts/tank tops/shorts in your wedding colors
- Durathon® Iron
- Iron-on patches – we like the crystal ones!
- Fabric tote bag or plastic beach tote
- Fun accessories (flip flops, sunglasses, beach towel)
- Flowers (optional)
- Seashells (optional)
Directions:
- Start off with wedding iron-on patches. These can be purchased from a craft store; I purchased mine from an Etsy wedding shop online. They had these lovely “crystal” bridal party iron-on patches that I loved.
- Make sure you read the directions for your particular iron-on patches. Mine called for heating the iron on the warmest setting, without steam.
- Place a towel or piece of fabric inside the shirt so that the adhesive from the iron-on patch doesn’t transfer through to the back of the clothing. You can also do these same steps on tote bags, hats, scarves, and shorts.
- Position the iron-on patch on the clothing and iron for 1-2 minutes ensuring you move the iron evenly across the entire patch to release the adhesive. Since I used the crystal patches it took a few more minutes to ensure all of the crystals were adhered. Then let the patch cool for 2-3 minutes before peeling off the backing.
- If the patch doesn’t transfer while peeling off the backing, carefully put it back and repeat step 4, possibly using more pressure with the iron and moving slower across the backing with the iron.
- Here’s all off the different type of customized apparel I created. From the mother of the groom to the bridesmaids having matching tank tops and shorts to lounge around in, I think they will love them! Don’t forget to make one for yourself.
- Once you’ve created the personalized gifts you can use your fun accessories to present them in the tote bag. I used flowers and seashells inside the bag along with beach towels, sunglasses, and flip-flops. I think it would be fun to put bottled water, sunscreen, snacks, magazines, and other trinkets inside.
Choose all of your accessories in coordinated colors to your wedding theme. I chose shades of fuchsia/black/white throughout my gift basket. Once you’re done you can give these to your ladies when you go relax at your beach spa day before the bridal shower! What clothing will you choose for your bridal wedding party baskets?
We think this would be an awesome idea for the groom’s wedding party too. Why not try customized T-shirts, baseball caps and golf towels for their outing to the golf course? The possibilities are endless with the Durathon® Digital Iron and your favorite iron-on patches.
