Burger Cook-Off: Grill vs. Griddle

Imagine it’s too cold or wet to stand by the grill and you’re craving the best burger. Happens to me all the time. Since it’s not the best time of year for grilling and chilling on the block, we put two of our Hamilton Beach appliances to the test to see which made the best hamburger – indoors.

We made classic burgers on our Indoor Searing Grill and on the Reversible Durathon® Ceramic Griddle. Let’s see how each held up.

The Hamilton Beach® Indoor Searing Grill is great for grilling indoors. This grill’s high-heat searing temperature locks in juices and flavor, giving your meat the taste, texture and appearance of a burger cooked on an outdoor grill.

The burgers also end up with perfect grill marks – exactly what you want to see on a grilled burger.

What’s even better? The grill’s 118-square inch nonstick grilling surface fits up to 8 servings, so you can feed the family a grilled-to-perfection meal anytime of year. And cleanup? Not to worry. The the hood, grill plates, and drip tray are all dishwasher safe for minimal cleanup post burger-binge.

The searing grill leaves you with a juicy, grill-marked burger that’s as close as you’ll get to the real thing this time of year.

Now for the griddled (not grilled) burgers.

While you won’t get the grill marks from the Reversible Durathon® Ceramic Griddle, you’ll get an evenly seared burger – and maybe even some additional treats. That’s right, we cooked our burgers, bacon, AND eggs right on the griddle. No need to dirty extra pans to make a fully-loaded burger. The large 200-square inch cooking surface allows you to easily cook everything on the griddle top.

The surface is made with Durathon® ceramic, which provides you with superior nonstick performance. Say goodbye to scraping half of your burger off the grill.

Worried about cleanup? A removable, dishwasher-safe drip tray catches excess grease and other drips, keeping your countertop free of messes.

If you want to cook everything you need for your burgers (you could also toast the buns) on one appliance, the griddle is the way to go. You could even leave it on the counter and use it for breakfast the next morning. French toast, sausage, and eggs would cook up in no time on this Durathon® griddle.
