It’s hard to ignore the coffee shop this time of year. The festive window displays, the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and freshly baked cookies, snowflake-covered cups – they’re undeniably inviting.
But if you have the right Hamilton Beach® appliances in your kitchen, you can recreate the cozy café in your own home.
Eggnog is one of my favorite holiday ingredients. Whether I’m baking eggnog cookies, whipping up an eggnog milkshake, or drinking it straight, I crave it this time of year.
This eggnog latte is the perfect afternoon pick me up on a chilly winter day or after-dinner drink post-holiday feast.
First, brew a strong cup of coffee. Add your favorite store-bought grounds to the filter or, if you’ve got the time, grind whole beans with your Hamilton Beach® coffee grinder. Freshly ground beans are indeed the best beans.
We set our 2-Way FlexBrew Coffee Maker to the BOLD setting before brewing. This ensures a strong cup of coffee each and every time (there is also a REGULAR setting for those who like a less-robust cup). The FlexBrew provides maximum brewing flexibility by allowing you to brew a single cup or an entire carafe. Since we plan on sharing these lattes with the family, used the carafe side of the 2-Way FlexBrew Coffee Maker.
After the coffee brews, mix the coffee, half and half, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and nutmeg together in a large bowl. Want an adult-friendly beverage? Add a little bit of your favorite Kahlua, rum or bourbon to the mix.
Either refrigerate the mixture for a few hours and serve chilled or serve immediately for a warm, drinkable dessert.
This eggnog latte is best served in a big holiday mug with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon. You certainly won’t miss the coffee shop when you’re sipping on this silky, sweet beverage wearing your coziest sweater on your comfy couch.
